MCDST Windows XP certification retiring in 2011

Posted in windows

Microsoft have announced that the Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician certification will be retiring in June 2011. With the increased push towards Windows 7, the XP operating system will soon fade away (with happy memories).

The following exams are affected by this announcement:

  • 70-271: Supporting Users and Troubleshooting a Windows XP Operating System
  • 70-272: Supporting Users and Troubleshooting Desktop Applications on a Windows XP Operating System

Although the exams retire, anyone who has passed the exams will keep their certification status. It is also possible to upgrade directly to Windows 7 by passing one exam:

70-682 Upgrading to Windows 7 MCITP Enterprise Desktop Support Technician
