Where to find Wardens Key and Plane Parts - Mob of the Dead Easter Egg

The final easter egg for Mob of the Dead is escaping from Alcatraz and fleeing the island. We know the steps for the easter egg because they're laid out nicely in the intro sequence (and also on the trailer for Mob of the Dead). The difficulty lies in finding the parts for the plane and also locating the wardens key.

Where is the wardens key

The warden's key is required to open the access point to the roof, where the plane is built. Once you've found the key it appears in the top left area of the screen (HUD).

The wardens key is a prerequisite in gaining access to the plane parts. For example, the plane part at the top of the spiral staircase is only accessible by first opening a locked door with the wardens key.

Follow these steps to find the key..

You'll find the key hanging from the first floor of the cells block. There are two possible locations, one is near the fan trap and the other is near the Citadel and Shower signs. The key is a nice shiny/glistening object but it can be mistaken for an electricity cable.

Once you've spotted the key, enter the afterlife by getting downed by a zombie OR use the electricity box. Now levitate (jump) through the portal entrance (bright blue hole) and onto the first floor.

Use your electric shock to disable the power machine and the key will drop to the floor.

Where are the plane parts - all locations

The second stage to Easter Egg is finding all the parts for the plane.

Plane parts are scattered around the map but they’re much easier to find than the buildable parts in previous maps. Thanks to the green glowing light that surrounds parts, you’ll see them a mile off. See image below:

Plane part 1 (Uniform)

Location: Laundry – washing machine

The first part for the plane is the uniform. It’s located in the laundry which is under the cell blocks of the prison building. To gain access to the laundry you’ll need to use afterlife to activate the power, thus opening the door down to the laundry.

Once in the laundry, open the door to the room with the washing machine. Go into purgatory and activate the power meter. Then come back out of purgatory and turn on the washing machine.

Wait for the wash cycle to complete and the washing machine door will open revealing the first part for the plane – the uniform.

Plane part 2 (Rigging)

Location : Cage on spiral staircase

The second part of the plane is located in a cage on the spiral staircase. This is the stair case that leads down to the tunnels and also through to the docks. To get this part you’re going to need to walk up and down the staircase a few times..

So, head down to the bottom of the staircase and open the panel on the wall (using wardens key). Now head up to the top of the staircase and use the electricity box to go into afterlife.

Now walk back down the staircase, remember the blue numbers written on the wall. Once you reach the bottom (still in afterlife) use your electric shock to spin the dials and set the number sequence.

Finally, go back to the top of the spiral, revive yourself and head down to the bottom again to collect the part in the cage.

Plane part 3 (Tank)

Location: Docks

The third part for the plane is the Tank which is one of the easier parts to collect, if you can make it to the docks.

Once you reach the docks, head to the far corner on right hand side and you’ll see a cage. Open the cage door, go into afterlife and power the meter which in turn opens the gate to the plane part.

Plane part 4 (Engine)

Location: Wardens Office

The fourth plane part is probably the hardest to get because it’s a two stage process. You’re also going to need a decent amount of points to unlock your way through.

First, you need to get into the wardens office. To do this, locate the wardens office which is at the end of the cell blocks (ground level). It’s the door next to the fan trap.

Above the wardens door, on the second level you’ll see one of the afterlife clues (a blue eye). Now go into the afterlife and jump through the portal onto the first floor.

There is a power meter in the LHS but this only relates to the wardens key (if it’s in that location). What you want to do is head RIGHT and follow the path round the corner and down behind the wardens door where the power meter is hidden.

If you enter the wardens office now, you’ll notice that the gate leading to the plane part is electrically charged (guarded). Touching the gate will kill you so don’t do it.

To remove the charge, you’re going to need to venture much further into the map until you make it to the generator room. Disabling the generator by over powering the machines will remove the electricity guard from the wardens door. Head back up and collect the part.

Plane part 5 (Control Valve)

Location: Next to Deadshot Daiquiri perk

The fifth plane part is probably the easiest to find. It’s next to the Deadshot Daiquiri perk machine on the way to the roof.

If you’re looking for the location from the starting point:

• Head to Olympia room and open door
• Go up two flights of stairs
• Turn left and go past Electric Cherry
• Follow the path to lead you through to part 5

How to build the plane

Each of the parts must be assembled on the roof of the prison (shown in the images and video below). Once built, players can stand on the plane to take off and leave the island. It's not a pleasant ride though and you'll soon be at the Golden Gate Bridge. So get ready for the pack-a-punch machine and the electric chairs!







Once built, players can fly the plane off the island and onto the Golden Gate bridge. Successfully completing this step will give you access to the Pack-a-Punch machine and also starts the Easter Egg journey.
