The Forest v0.0.5 Update Adds Bow and Arrows

the forest
The 5th update for The Forest is a surprisingly good one simply because it includes one of the most requested weapons - the bow and arrow. In addition to this Hunger Games weapon there are two other craftable items for players to try.
Bow and Arrow
Players can now fight mutants in true Hunger Games style with this weapon. The recipe for the bow is a strange one, requiring cloth plus basic sticks and rope. Not sure the cloth is necessary but its required for now.
The accompanying arrows follow logic because they're crafted from sticks and feathers, and players must have arrows as ammunition otherwise the bow is next to useless.
The sound effects for the bow could do with improving along with the intensity and damage of the weapon itself. When firing, the bow sounds exactly like a homemade kids toy and you'll need to be extremely accurate to hit animals let alone kill mutants.
Tip: It can be hard to find rope but starting in v0.0.5 it's much easier because rope is located in mutant camps and villages.
The bow can be used to either kill mutants or hunt animals, including birds.
Fire Torch
An additional light source or weapon, the Fire Torch provides a sustained light which is far better than the lighter. The Torch is crafted from cloth plus sticks - both of which are easy to collect.
The Torches bright light is great for venturing into caves, or escaping from them if you're unlucky enough to get captured.
Medicine
The perfect way to restore health and prolong your survival. Medicine is crafted by combining Aloe Plants and Marigold Flowers. Once crafted, it can be stored in your inventory until you're ready to use it. I originally saw this in the game files for v0.0.1 and it's no surprise that it's made its appearance now.
One application of medicine is enough to fully restore your health making it a worthwhile item to stash away.
Other improvements
- Batteries can be used to recharge the flashlight and slow the battery drain speed by half.
- The game supports more resolutions.
- Stick holder now stores 20 sticks.
- Pedometer shows outside temperature so you'll know when it's dangerous cold and it's time to get the fire going.
Important Fixes
Apart from the additions mentioned above there are 30+ bug fixes in v0.0.5. The fixes highlighted below will interest players the most:
- Mutants no longer get stuck in trees
- Yellow axe disappearing from inventory
- Mutant vision is now blocked by player built structures
- Mutants getting stuck in trees
- Distorted mutants can be killed with flare gun and fire
- Rope can be found in villages
- Birds drop feathers when killed
