Black Ops 2 - Best Class for Gaining XP and Leveling Up

An overview of what we consider the best class for levelling up fast in Black Ops 2. As you probably know, most of the decent weapons, perks and scorestreaks are not unlocked until you reach the higher levels so it's important to get a good head start.

If you're one of the gamers who got Black Ops 2 around the release date you'll know that levelling up is one of the most important aspects of multiplayer, especially so if you want to compete against pro players. Having useless guns, perks etc. is going to make your life even harder (even more so since hundreds of people got the game before the launch date and have had time to level up already).

The custom class we're going to describe below is best suited to Team Deathmatch or Ground War modes. We recommend ground war because of the sheer number of players involved in a single game. More players = more kills = more XP. If you want to level up you're going to need to claim as much XP during each game as you can.

Gun

MP7 (customized)

First let's start with the gun. Since people are still learning the new maps it's the best time to strike! Catch them off guard by using a responsive gun with a high rate of fire. Our choice is the MP7 which is a fully automatic sub machine gun. It's light and comes with a high rate of fire. It's also got a decent amount of ammo before you need to reload, meaning you can take out 2, maybe 3 players before a reload is required.

A slight downside with the sub machine gun is long range accuracy so we've added the grip and the laser sight to provide more stability. You'll find that the machine gun has a great accuracy rating at close range so you'll be able to pick off most people without even needing to aim down the sights.

The key to making the MP7 effective is to constantly keep on the move and catch players by surprise. The MP7 is more suited to smaller maps with tight corners and narrow passageways. If you find yourself on one of the larger maps (such as Yemen) then you're going to be in trouble with Snipers if you stay out in the open.

Tactical and Lethal

We're more concerned about picking players off with our gun than lobbing grenades at them. We also want to avoid appearing on the radar so we prefer to sacrifice one tactical in favour of an attachment. In our custom class we've gone for one simple grenade and a concussion.

Wildcard

Greed 1 Perk

We're assuming that you're at a low level hence the reason you want to level up fast. Therefore, you've got limited wildcard options available. We found that Greed Perk 1 wildcard works the best for us. Basically the Greed 1 Wildcard allows you to have two perks (from level 1). So we can have a lovely hardline and the lightweight perk for speed. Speed is the key here when using the MP7 (or any other sub machine gun)

Extreme Conditioning

Perks make a huge difference to any class so getting them right is important. In our custom class we've gone for a stealthy, fast class with hardline for gaining scorestreaks faster. You'll notice that in Black Ops 2, supportive scorestreaks such as UAV help with assists and add to your points total.

Lightweight and extreme conditioning are the perfect combination for running faster and for longer durations. Remember, we're using the MP7 so keeping on the move is our number 1 priority. Running fast also makes it harder for people (especially snipers) to hit you.

Cold blooded removes the red crosshair and name when other players target you, this is great for remaining undetected and reduces the chance of getting killed.

Scorestreaks

Guardian

You're going to have very limited options when it comes to scorestreaks early in the game. We strongly recommend you choose UAV over RC-XD because the RC-XD is going to interfere with your gameplay while the UAV will assist both you and the rest of the team (who can collect points for you through assists).

The carepackage is a gambling mans choice because it can give you something pretty measly like the counter UAV but could also give you one of the better scorestreaks too. Remember to drop the package in the corner of the map when you're surrounded by other team players (to help protect you while you claim the package).

The guardian is deceiving, it looks pretty harmless but it's really effective when placed close to the spawn point of the enemy team. Just stay just outside the spawn area (so players still spawn there)and then place the Guardian in the direct line of movement. Players will get stunned and you can pick them off with ease.

Overall

This class is a fast, lightweight choice for players who like to stay on the move. That's us. If you like camping in buildings or picking off players from range then this definitely isn't the right choice.

If you really want to level up fast then you're going to need to go out and get the kills. Make the most of the new aspect of Black Ops 2. People don't know the map - they will be easier to pick off at high speed.
