Minecraft 1.8 is the big adventure update and its coming sometime in July. Not only will we see drastic changes to the way Minecraft is played but we'll also see some new additions and even a new mob or two!!
Minecraft 1.8 is going to be a big release and here are the new confirmed features..Confirmed Features
1.8 will be the Adventure Update
A complete change to the way we play Minecraft. There will be a greater emphasis on exploration and the whole game will be more rewarding. This change is going to be a biggie!
New mobs
Possibly the Silverfish but also a scary mob. Silverfish are small insect like creatures that eat through wood, books and paper based items. There's also speculation that the new scary mob might be a boss mob with an associated achievement.
Moss Stone (mossy cobblestone)
Similar in many ways to cobblestone but this item cannot be smelted or crafted into anything else. You can use it in buildings to make the place look older or ruined. There's the possibility that the moss will spread over time to other cobblestone blocks.
NPC villages
Groups of buildings and mobs within a little community. We're not sure if these mobs will be aggressive or just passive but it's most likely that they'll be Humans or Pigmen. The buildings are primitive constructions made of cobblestone or moss stone, wooden roofs and glass for windows. It's a bit like a forgotten tribe in the forests or cannibals in a tropical island.
Advanced combat
The new version will use new mechanics to make combat more rewarding. Little else is known about the combat changes but its likely that the health system of both the player and other mobs will be more granular. Improvements to the enemy A.I. (artificial intelligence) combined with new distance, power and weapon calculations will lead to intelligent fighting. There's also the possibility of players using potions (evidence from the inclusion of the Experience Orb).
Sliders for video settings
Rather than limited choices for the video 'field of view' and 'gamma' settings, we'll get pin point sliders. These will let you adjust the settings right up to the point where you video card stays happy!
New lighting engine
The name says it all.
Other unconfirmed features:
- A new launcher
- Food buckets
- Underground ravines
- Bigger mushrooms
- Experience Orb
