The official trailer for Minecraft 1.8 (Adventure Update) has been posted online. Produced by the guys over at Haatfilms it gives us a teaser for the new features coming soon. Watch the official trailer here.

What new features do we see in the trailer?

New Biomes - we get to see the new environment biomes that come with the adventure update. These include islands, villages, ravines, rivers and waterfalls. You can see from the trailer that the village actually has a farm on it too.

Orbs - these 'orange sack' like items actually give you XP (experience points). In version 1.8 these don't actually do anything but they will play their part once version 1.9 is released.

Bow and arrow - you can see the pull back and release for the bow and arrow weapon. Arrows fly through the air in an arc (just as in real life). The longer you pull back or charge the arrow, the further the arrow will travel and the more damage it will do.

Sprinting and attacking - when you attack mobs whilst running you will knock the mob back.

Endermen - these tall, thin, creepy mobs will make their appearance in the adventure update. See Endermen

Water melons - you will be able to grow these and also farm them. From the trailer they look quite large and they will be a source of food.

Skill points - earn points for completing skilful tasks such as killing a zombie with the bow and arrow
