There are now several really good emulators in the Android Market. We have emulators that cover classic gaming consoles including SNES, Gameboy, Playstation, Amiga, NES and many others.
As with most Android apps, some are free (Lite versions) and others you need to pay for. We cover the top 10 emulators both free and paid for. Whether you like a bit of Mortal Kombat of prefer to relive the days of Mario, you'd be wise to read on..
1. psx4Droid (paid)
The Sony Playstation emulator for Android is probably the most expensive (currently $5.99) but it gives you access to some of the best games around. It is one of the most advanced emulators on the market and Playstation games are pretty beafy to run so you'll need a high end device. Using psx4droid you can play games such as Metal Gear Solid, Gran Turismo, Resident Evil, Final Fantasy VII, Tekken and many others.
To play playstation games using psx4droid, you will need Playstation ROM files which have the ISO extension because they are essentially CD's. If you have old Playstation games at home then you can rip the ISO image and play the games using psx4droid. Alternatively, you can download ISO files on the internet.
2. SNESoid Lite (free)
Probably the second best emulator for the Android. The Lite version is free and allows you to play most SNES games (around 80%). You need to download ROM files (games) which have the extension smc. The emulator allows you to save game states and it produces good sound and graphics emulation.
The controls nicely overlay the screen so you are not distracted from the gameplay too much. Load times are really fast as well.
3. UAE4Droid (free)
