Survival Mode Coming to Minecraft Pocket Edition in Feb 2012

Daniel Kaplan, from Mojang, has confirmed that the much loved survival mode of Minecraft will be making its way to the Pocket Edition in February. He said that the survival mode will be released for Android and iOS simultaneously.

Those of you who have tried the Pocket Edition (mobile version) of Minecraft will know that the game bares more of a resemblance to the classic Alpha version than the current Minecraft game. There is no crafting and there aren't any mobs in the game. Given the number of below average ratings and comments on the Android marketplace it's clear that the app needs survival mode urgently!

Thanks to Mojanga efforts, we will see the survival mode released on the 8th February 2012. Once approved from Apple and the Android Marketplace, the app could be available on the same day to download and try.

The addition of Survival mode is going to make a big difference to the mobile version of Minecraft. But don't expect to see a fully fledged crafting system just yet. The UI (user interface) needs to be completely redeveloped for touch screens first.
