Sign Up as a Minecraft Mod Developer

minecraftAfter the earlier announcement that a mod API would not be released, Notch has confirmed his plans for mod development. Developers can now sign up for a FREE Minecraft mod developer account and legally distribute mods for Minecraft.
By signing up for an account, developers will get..
- A full copy of the Minecraft code, unobfuscated and uncensored from a private SVN repository
- A developer certificate to sign your mods with. Any users wanting to use a mod can either trust the certificate or not. This should weed out the bad mods from the good
- Updates as soon as new versions of Minecraft are released. No more waiting for someone to unobfuscate the code and distribute
Mod Developer Account Rules
- Developers cannot sell mods or make money from them in any way *unless you have a special license
- Mods must only work for players who have purchased minecraft i.e. not the pirate versions from torrent sites
This is a fantastic announcement from Notch and it opends the dorr for the full version of Minecraft when it's released. Notch also commented that if your mod is really good then they might want to license it and pay you some money!! So get developing and don't hold back!!
