Notch Officially Launches Minecraft at Minecon 2011 - Watch the video

Minecon has just started and Notch made his first live appearance on stage in front of 5000 devoted Minecraft fans. Greeted with huge applause and hundreds of camera shots, he officially launched Minecraft by pulling a lookalike lever.

The Minecon event was hosted by Minecraftchick who introduced us to the whole of the Minecraft team including Jeb and of course Notch. The man himself talked us through his inspiration for Minecraft and the reasons behind its success – the fans!



We got to see a new Xbox Live version of the game and a confirmed release date of Spring 2012. There were also lots of signings and photographs for the fans.

It's a fabulous start to the Minecon 2011 event..
