Notch Confirms Minecraft Mods are Stealing Passwords
Posted in
minecraftNotch, the creator of Minecraft has confirmed the recent suspicions that mods are stealing Minecraft passwords. Notch suggests that users should only install mods that they fully trust.
He revealed that future versions of Minecraft will include a mod sandbox to restrict mods from accessing important information and features. This of course will protect users premium account passwords. This type of sandboxing is similar to the way Android apps run in their own isolated virtual machine or how Google Chrome prevents Javascript from accessing other web pages you might be browsing.

Unfortunately there are no clues which Minecraft mods are suspicious. We suggest Minecraft players only download well known mods that are constantly updated and well supported. Mods that come and go are usually the suspicious ones! Mods that allow you to cheat are highly suspicious and should be avoided.
