A new update is available for the Minecraft Pocket Edition app for the iPhone, iPad and Android. Version 0.2.1 includes modified controls for large screens, changes to flying controls, new pig mob and lots of bug fixes.
We thought we might get some kind of crafting system but looks like that's saved up for a later update.
You can download the update via the new Google Play site (aka Android Marketplace) or the iTunes store.

User feedback so far has been disappointing. It sounds like you were hoping for a lot more from this update? The problem with the Pocket Edition is that it's trying to be the PC game without a mouse, and Minecraft without a physical control device is bloody hard to develop. The Xbox version will probably be a much bigger success thanks to the powerful controller with dual analogue sticks, D-Pad, front/back buttons..you get the picture.
Here are some early reviews on the Pocket Edition update..
