New Minecraft Launcher Features - Offline Mode and User Profiles

Posted in minecraft

A new version of the Minecraft launcher was released by Mojang today. It comes with a new offline mode and a user profile feature to remember your favourite settings. Minecraft players will also be able to enjoy automatic login soon as well.

If you share your PC with other family members or friends, then the user profile feature is going to be really handy. Each user can create their own custom profile and the launcher will automatically know what settings you want when you login.

The launcher also goes one step further by allowing you to customize your Minecraft directories and versions. Essentially, this means you could save your snapshots and mods in one folder while your brother/sister saves theirs in a completely different folder (or even drive). Everything's tied into your profile.

Main features

  • Multiple user profiles
  • Automatically remembers your selected version
  • Automatically remembers your game directories

How to play offline?

Before you can play offline you must play online at least once. This is so the launcher can verify your Mojang account and download the necessary files to your computer. From this point on, you don't need to be connected to the internet.
