New Features Coming in Minecraft 1.6 - New Mobs and Biomes?

We've all been sick to death of the recent snapshots right? Can't wait to see the back of Minecraft 1.5 and get back to some new mobs and great features? Well fingers crossed, March should see the first Minecraft 1.6 snapshot and it should be a good one.

According to hints from Jeb and Dinnerbone, Minecraft 1.6 will take us to new biomes and introduce new mobs. This isn't just guess work, these new mobs have been confirmed by Dinnerbone, and it's only the details that we're missing.

Taking a look at what the community wants and it's pretty clear that we've had enough of Redstone for a while. We all love those fancy constructions but after a while it gets pretty tedious. New creatures and biomes is what you want the most.

Popular opinion is that Minecraft 1.6 will come with a long awaited revamp for the oceans biome which is sorely lacking in features. We could even see some of the great ideas from Mo's Creatures having an influence - sharks, rays etc. It would be great to see those water loving creatures introduced

Another popular thought is that Mojang will go back and visit the Heaven biome/dimension which was mentioned several times in the Beta stages of Minecraft. Sometimes referred to as the Sky Dimension the dimension is the opposite to the Nether and instead of ghastly monsters it would contain heavenly creatures most of which would be beautiful and possibly helpful - healing, enchantments etc..

Who knows what to expect from Minecraft 1.6 but you can be sure that it's going to come with new mobs and possibly new biomes!! Let's leave Redstone behind us and look forward to some 1.6 goodness!!
