The ‘Mojam' charity event from the makers of Minecraft has finished! The total raised was over $437K! Donators could choose from 4 great charities and in return they got 3 new games from Mojang (Catacomb Snatch), Qxeye and Wolfire Games.
It's taken 3 days of immense coding and fun but the guys taking part in Mojam have raised a huge sum of money. More than 77,000 people donated to Mojam and the top 10 donators won prizes. The average donation was a little over $5 but one off sums of $500 were common.
Not only did Mojam succeed to raising a lot of money for charity but they also produced some great games in less than 60 hours. It was great to see the guys working through the night with the likes of Prodigy and 90's classics blaring in the background. The end result from Mojang was ‘Catacomb Snatch' - a fun game based around an Egyptian Steampunk theme with RTS/shoot-em up style gameplay.
For us mere outsiders, Mojam was a great eye opener. Via the livestream, we got a ‘behind the scenes' look at what it's like to work at Mojang. We saw Jeb in person, MinecraftChick (Lydia) and of course Notch doing his thing. It was like a geeks version of Big Brother, only more realistic and a million times better. The office tour was one of our favourite parts, especially that ‘Minecraft wall' (see video below).

Mojam was a huge success!!
You've got say ‘hats off' to Notch once again..Mojam was a complete success and something we rarely see. It's back to Minecraft for Jeb and Notch now but don't be surprised if we see more of these innovations from Mojang in the future..
