Mojang Live Steam MCPE 0.7 - Sorry No Skins, No Texture Packs and No Chat

The long awaited live stream for MCPE 0.7 is now over and we've got a pretty good idea what to expect in the next version. The bad news is we're not getting that much, apart from a limited Beta multiplayer. You're not going to get chat, skins nor texture packs I'm afraid.
Update: MCPE 0.7.0 has been submitted for cert testing. Release expected before June.
Original PostDuring the live steam, Johan confirmed that MCPE 0.7 will be released in the first week of May 2013. However, the multiplayer Beta is only going to be available to a limited number of players - around 1000 will be invited to join initially. If things go well, then the number of Beta invites will be increased to 100,000 within a week. Mojang will invite MCPE players based on their activity - whoever plays MCPE the most.
New features confirmed
- Smooth lighting
- Limited Beta multiplayer
- Options can be changed in-game
As you can see there weren't many features to get excited about. Thankfully, Johan did answer some of your pressing questions about future features. Here are the interesting topics..
- Buckets may be included in 0.7
- No drag and drop crafting feature
- In game music should be included within the next 4 updates - before 1.0
- Controller limitations make sneaking hard to implement - possibly in future version
- Multiplayer is free to play but creating a server costs money - so basically 'Realms' are a monthly fee
- No weather yet
- Breeding - probably included this year
- Redstone included in future updates - not top of the list
- Maps as big as Xbox coming this year
- No Bluetooth multiplayer - not supported
- No support for texture packs yet
- Enchanting, way in the future
- No skins yet - possibly skin packs sooner
- No chat yet
- Redstone later this year - after all PC Redstone bugs fixed
- No snapshots for MCPE - C++ version is too volatile
- Camera feature coming this year
- Villages not coming yet - maps are too small at the moment
So, let us know what you think about MCPE and the next version..
