As we get closer to the release date for Minecraft on the Xbox (XBLA), the developers are sharing more of the upcoming features with us. We now know that the Xbox version will have multiplayer split screen, new achievements and other features previously unseen on the PC counterpart.
Although the developers have stressed that the Xbox version of Minecraft will be several versions behind the PC version, it'll come with brand new features. Players will get new achievements to unlock and these will be recorded against your Xbox Live account. It'll be easy to compete against your friends!
Multiplayer has been the question on everyone's lips recently and it's good to know that not only does Minecraft XBLA come with multiplayer but it'll also support up to 4 players via split screen (or up to 8 over 2 households).
I think it's safe to assume that the Xbox version of Minecraft will be miles ahead of the Pocket Edition for mobiles. The early gameplay video from Minecon already proved that features have been completed and just the final touches are needed.
Features that will not be included (yet)
Many people thought that the Xbox version would come with native Kinect support so that players could use their hands (and gestures) to perform actions. Unfortunately, Kinect support will not be included in the first release.
Characters skins and mods are not finished yet but they're also planned for later releases. The developers will concentrate on textures, skins and then finally mods. So expect new features in that order.
Release Date
Minecraft will be released on Xbox (XBLA) sometime in March.
