Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition - 1 million copies sold in 5 days

Notch and Mojang just love breaking records don't they? Well here comes another one..Microsoft have just confirmed that the Xbox 360 Edition of Minecraft has sold a million copies in 5 days!

If you do the maths at $20 a piece, you'll come to realise that Minecraft on the Xbox has made around $20 million! Notch also confirmed that the risk in porting the game to the Xbox paid off in under an hour! Everything else after that hour was all pure profit.

Of course Microsoft will take their share of the fortune as they do with all XBLA games but you can't help thinking that the Mojang team are in for another tidy bonus. Only 6 months ago, Notch was sharing his fortune between the Mojang team with a nice share of $3 million each!!

The Xbox edition of Minecraft hasn't been without its fair share of problems, the HDTV issue being the most notable. However, this hasn't stopped Notch from continuing to dominate the gaming industry once again.

As Minecraft celebrated its 3rd birthday yesterday we got a glimpse of the first gameplay video of Minecraft. It was uploaded by Notch back in 2009, if you follow the channel for Nizzotch you'll see just how Minecraft came from nowhere to legendary status!
