Minecraft snapshot 12w37a - New features to expect

If we can believe the speculation (and we usually can) this weeks snapshot 12w37a will come with some great new features. Expect to see the new super flat customisation options, braver mobs and even pumpkin pie! You'll even be able to share your super flat presets with friends too.
Super Flat Customization
We thought this one would come packaged into 12w36a but it didn't quite make it. Probably a good thing because Nathan has had more time to perfect the options and even give you the option to share your customisations (presets) with other players.
Similar in many ways to world seeds, the preset as its known, is a collection of digits, commas and multipliers forming a single string. You can see from the screenshot that Nathan has added a handful of presets already. They include:
- Classic Flat - your normal Minecraft world. Loads of grass and dirt on top.
- Tunnelers Dream - extensive networks of stone and raw materials
- Water world - name says it all really
If you don't care about the existing presets you can customize your new world down to the detail of each and every layer type. Choose the material, select the depth and the Minecraft world generator will do the rest for you!
Pumpkin Pie
The new food item designed by Jeb. Not sure what the recipe is going to be for the pumpkin pie but obviously it's going to have pumpkin in it somewhere!
Pumpkins are rare items but they can be farmed in a similar manner to melons. They can't be eaten in their original form, hence the need to craft a pumpkin pie.
Braver mobs
Ever thought that mobs just aren't brave enough? They never seem to jump down ledges to follow you right? Well, say goodbye to that theory. Starting in 12w27a, mobs will assess the risk of a high fall. They'll strongly consider the jump if the potential damage is less than half their remaining health.
You won't see any suicide jumps going on so no lemmings thankfully.
When you can you download 12w37a?
Expect to see 12w37a coming Thursday 13th September. Download links will be on our site as soon as they're available.
