Minecraft Multiplayer Confirmed on Xbox as Game Gets PG Rating

Posted in minecraft

The Australian classification board, who are responsible for classifying the recommended age for all videos games in Australia, have given Minecraft a family friendly PG rating. They've also let us in on a secret – the Xbox game will have multiplayer!

So, rejoice everyone..the Xbox version of Minecraft is only weeks if not days away. The game classification process is one of the first steps in approving and releasing a new game. What with time zones and all that, Australia usually get their games first (lucky buggers!).

It comes as no surprise that Minecraft has been awarded the friendly PG rating thanks to it's child friendly nature. It's educational fun at its heart. There's more violence in kids cartoons than in Minecraft!

One of the most interesting parts of this classification process is the consumer advice area, where the classification organisation adds comments. In this case, they've spilt the beans on the multiplayer aspect and all but confirmed it's included with the Xbox version of Minecraft.

The Xbox version (or port) is being developed by 4J Studios in associated with Mojang and of course closely monitored by Notch. The game will be published by Microsoft through the XBLA system.
