Minecraft arrives on iPhone and iPad iOS

minecraftThe Pocket Edition of Minecraft has made its way to the App Store and is now available to download for both the iPhone and iPad. The game was previously only available on Android devices.
Review
We reviewed the
Pocket Edition of Minecraft for Android several months ago and not much has changed between the Android and iPhone versions. The Pocket Edition is still a very early Alpha version of Minecraft. This means there's no crafting table, mobs or achievements. It's a very early classic version where you have unlimited resources to build whatever you like.
See a
gameplay video for the Pocket EditionThe big difference between this version and the Android one is that you get the chance to enjoy Minecraft on the iPad. The luscious big screen and larger touch controls make the game easier to play. It's just a shame that there isn't more to do.
We want more!
Just because it is an older version of the game, don't write it off though. Now that Minecon is only hours away, the Pocket Edition of the game will surely get more attention over the coming months. Expect to see mobs, new items and crafting introduced some time soon.
Download
The game costs $9.99 and it's around 3MB in size. The Android marketplace had a demo version of the game where you could play with a limited number of blocks. We expect the App Store to have a similar demo version soon.
