Minecraft 13w21a Expected Features - Mob Attribute System (Status Effects)
Posted in
minecraftSo we missed out on a snapshot last week due to Mojang's trip to Monte Carlo but don't worry, Nathan has already given us some clues about 13w21a. As you probably know, Minecraft 1.6 is unoffiically known as the mob update for Minecraft and features are centered around the mob theme.
Update: Minecraft 13w21a has been releasedCome the 23rd May (or thereabouts) we should get our hands on 13w21a and the new mob attributes feature. This is by no means a simple change to the way mobs are coded in the game. Nathan is going to introduce attributes for every mob in the game in a kind of buff/debuff system. The number of attributes per mod will increase as we get closer to 1.6 but we do know that the essentials will be there in 13w21a. So for example, expect to see attributes for mob speed or mob health.
This attribute systems plays into the hands of map makers, especially those who've mastered the use of the command block. Using the new attribute system, map makers can alter any attribute for a mob. So you could change the mobs speed based on actions in the game..maybe something is triggered that angers aggressive mobs making the game harder.
Positive actions are known as buffs whereas hindering effects are called debuffs.
Examples of buffs are:- Increase in movement speed
- Increase in health points
- Increase in defensive points
Examples of debuffs are:- Health drain
- Impairment
- Resistance to fire
