Minecraft 13w02a Features - Mob Spawner Minecarts, TNT Minecarts, Marble/Limestone

After last weeks epic Redstone snapshot we've got Minecraft 13w02a to download this week. Not only does this snapshot come with lots of Redstone fixes but it also includes new decorative Marble/Limestone blocks made out of Nether Quartz, Mob Spawner Minecarts and even TNT Minecarts.

Let's take a look at each of the new features..

Mob Spawner Minecart

So you all know that you can create a Minecart with Furnace (powered minecart) and also the Minecart with Chest, but now you can create the new 'Minecart with Mob Spawner'. As you might expect, mobs will spawn inside the cart (which type of mob depends on the spawner block used). So you might have pigs, cows, zombies or any other type of mob for that matter.

Dinnerbone highlighted the entertaining uses for the new Minecart by staging his own tower defence scenario where he tried to defend his village from the onslaught of pigs. He lost by the way!

Minecart with TNT

Just like the new Spawner Minecart, the TNT version encases the TNT block which was previously not allowed. As you can imagine, having TNT inside carts is going to cause mayhem when it comes to SMP. It also makes for some interesting survival maps where you'll need to defend your base against the rally of explosive trailers.

Marble/Limestone Block (Nether Quartz)

The new decorative blocks are made from Nether Quartz (which was only just added in Minecraft 1.5). These blocks look similar to marble or limestone thanks to their milky appearance. Just take a look at the screenshot and you'll see that these new blocks make some really fancy interiors.

What else can we expect?

Not only have Mojang had time to add new stuff but they've also fixed a tonne of bugs this week. You'll be pleased to know that the Hopper duplication bug has been fixed!
