Download Minecraft Snapshot 12w23a

You can now download the latest Minecraft snapshot - 12w23a. It's a smaller snapshot this week because of the Mojang office move and the national holiday in Sweden. This snapshot contains mainly bug fixes but there are a few notable changes thrown in.

The addition of trip wire last week has really sparked some great ideas from you Minecraft players. The ex-bukkit team have taken some of your suggestions on board and this week we get to see those changes implemented.

Trip wire now has these modifications

Longer trip wire string - The string connecting the trip wire hooks can now be up to 40 blocks in length. So, you can place your hooks further apart.

More sensitive detection - trip wires will be activated by all entities including arrows. So, you can aim a nice arrow at your trip wire and manually activate the device.

Another notable feature this week is the introduction of acceleration for boats. Just like a real boat, you'll start at a slower speed and gently accelerate up to full speed. Once you get up to full speed you'll notice that boats actually go a lot faster.

Jeb and the rest of the Minecraft development team are now working on improving stability and performance, and ironing out the remaining bugs. Give or take a week, we expect that Minecraft 1.3 will be ready within a month (released date in July)
