Download Minecraft 1.5.1 - FPS Lag Fixed!

minecraftMinecraft 1.5 was in danger of going down as the 'FPS killer' but thanks to Jeb's hard work he's managed to squash the FPS lag that was plaguing the game. Download Minecraft 1.5.1 and you should experience at least a 100% improvement in FPS.
The original Minecraft 1.5 update was riddled with some of the most depressing FPS bugs which were reducing frame rates by half (if not worse). Some community users had complained they were getting 30 FPS when they usually see at least 100 FPS. That's a depressing drop and one which really affects gameplay.
Mojang have been hard at work getting to bottom of these FPS bugs and we've now got Minecraft 1.5.1 to download. Minecraft 1.6 snapshots have been delayed as a result but we've now got a stable version of the Redstone update which I think we all agree is worth the sacrifice.
Features
The main feature of 1.5.1 is of course the FPS fix. Don't expect it to be better than 1.4.7 but it will at least be back to normal. Other minor improvements which you can benefit from include:
- Falling blocks no longer glitch one step
- White stitching between blocks should be less frequent
- Crash on Mac OS X on "OpenGL Function Not Supported" now fixed
- Unable to place paintings bug fixed
